Some wildlife refuge managers don't seem to understand that "refuges" are supposed to be safe places for animals to live. It's a fact that Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, a truly wonderful and magical wilderness, has a liberal hunting season matching that of the rest of New Hampshire.

There is even worse news, however, that there are people in NH who are attempting to get TRAPPING allowed on the refuge. Some of us have commented against trapping already to the refuge planner recently at meetings held on revising their management plan. Contact us for more information and to find out what we can still do to at least keep fur trapping out of Lake Umbagog. There has never been fur trapping at this refuge and we will need everyone's help to see that there never is.
